REVIEW – Captain America: Civil War Super Bowl Spot

MARVEL had just thirty seconds to get us amped about a movie that many are saying is lagging behind the 2016 DC movies in terms of popularity.

MARVEL is not in the least bit concerned and came to the party with just enough tricks to keep us entertained until that first weekend in May where they know that their third Captain America film will set the standard for the summer blockbuster season.

Efficiency is the name of this game, after all, Super Bowl ads aren’t cheap. In the same sequence that shows us a murderous Winter Soldier taking a headshot at MARVEL’s marquis star Tony Stark/RDJ we get to see the newest Stark tech which puts the Apple Watch to shame. Siri, can you stop a bullet at point blank range?

A few explosions and some shots of our heroes looking beat up and heartbroken reminds us that it’s not going to be all snappy one-liners and shawarma by the end of this war; in fact, some of our heroes may not live to see the next one involving Thanos and those pesky Infinity Stones.

Also, kudos to Disney/MARVEL for NOT showing us the first peek at Spider-Man despite this spot being broadcast during one of the most watched television events of the year. Restraint is a virtue and I’d rather be teased than spoiled.

But please don’t do in the movie the thing that you did in the comic… You know what I’m talking about…

Watch the video below to see me break down the trailer a little more in depth, I actually do more than just talk into the camera in this one! Crazy!
